Masque Attack Virus
Those who own Apple devices equipped with the latest versions of iOS operating system are threatened by Masque Attack Virus.
Masque Attack Virus – What is it ?
According to Digital Trends, Masque Attack virus may act disguised as an application.
The great danger is the fact that personal information of the user can be stolen. Hackers could exploit some errors found on iOS 7 and iOS 8 and they are able install fake applications via emails and text messages.
If the user uses the link sent by hackers to download the application, it will replace other apps already installed on that device. Even after the gadget is restarted, the virus can act the same. It should be noted that applications like Apple Mail and Safari can not be replaced by Masque Attack Virus.
In July, the US company told FireEye that they are working to remedy this problems. Masque Attack virus has the ability to affect the iOS versions 7.1.1, 7.1.2, 8.0, 8.1 and 8.1.1 beta. Users are advised not to download applications from other sources, but the Apple Store.
A week ago, security experts have discovered another virus, WireLurker, attacking Apple products.
This malware was detected by Palo Alto Networks. It infiltrates the OS X operating system on Apple computers and iOS software used on iPhones and iPads.
